The book describes many interesting facts in the long history of Montenegro, the oldest South-Slavic state in the Balkans, beginning with the country's origins. The first Montenegrin state, called Doclea (named after the Roman city of the same name), fought for its independence in a long battle near Tudjemili the concluded in the year 1043. Montenegro was mentioned as the country name for the first time in the charter of King Milutin in the year 1296.
In this book you can find how many of the world's more famous persons are involved in Montenegro's long history. Mila Jovovic, one of the world's most popular actresses, has Montenegrin origins - Her father was from Montenegro. Hollywood star Brad Pitt played his first role in a movie "Dark side of the Sun" which was filmed on the Montenegrin Coast in 1987 - at the time Pitt was reportedly amazed by the beauty of Perast. Nikola Tesla, the famous scientist and inventor in electro-engineering, translated many Montenegrin poems into English - some sources trace Tesla family origins to the village of Draganici near Niksic.
